The Village of Calumet will have a dumpster available at the DPW Shop beginning Wednesday, June 3 for residents who would like to help clean up their properties and remove blight-related debris. ✅ Village of Calumet residents only 📍 DPW Shop 🕗 DPW staff will be available to assist Monday–Friday from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM Items generally accepted include: • Household junk • Non-hazardous construction debris • Small amounts of renovation materials 🚫 Please do NOT place the following items in the dumpster: • Paints, stains, solvents, or other liquids • Tires • Batteries • Electronics (TVs, computers, etc.) • Propane tanks • Gasoline, oil, antifreeze, or automotive fluids • Hazardous chemicals, pesticides, or fertilizers • Asbestos-containing materials • Appliances containing refrigerants (such as refrigerators or freezers) If you are unsure whether an item can be accepted, please check with Village staff before bringing it. First Session: Monday, May 11, 2026 @ 10:30AM Second Session: TBD As required by the State of Michigan Recodified Tax Increment Financing Act 57 of 2018, the Village of Calumet Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will hold two annual information sessions at the Village of Calumet Red Jacket Ballroom (340 6th Street, Calumet, MI 49913). The first session will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 10:30AM; the second will be announced at a later date. These meetings will cover the same information. DDA Chair Nikki L’Esperance will share information about what the DDA is, the DDA annual budget, recent and upcoming DDA projects, and goals for the future. These meetings will be available via Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82333220731?pwd=IaHFuq0YaSpzQfVybmynIyTj2yNnBs.1 Meeting ID: 823 3322 0731 Passcode: 885096 VILLAGE OF CALUMETCERTIFIED GRANT ADMINISTRATOR REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS The Village of Calumet is seeking proposals from Certified Grant Administrators for management, environmental review, and administrative services required for implementation of a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funded through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA). The project consists of the rehabilitation of approximately sixteen (16) homes, with a projected average budget per home of $20,500. PROJECT SUMMARY MSHDA’s CDBG funds are awarded to municipalities to support a range of housing related activities, classified as Reconstruction, Homeowner Rehabilitation, Infrastructure, Rental Rehabilitation, and Manufactured Housing. The Village of Calumet will utilize CDBG funds for activities classified under “Homeowner Rehabilitation.” These activities are meant to preserve affordable owner-occupied housing units through offering low-and-moderate-income homeowners, those making less than 80% of the area median income (AMI), grant funds to address health and safety concerns and maintenance issues. Eligible project costs are the actual costs of rehabilitating housing and soft costs, including but not limited to interior and exterior improvements to meet code requirements, roof repair or replacement, siding, windows, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and insulation.
