DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKSThe Department of Public Works is the maintenance department within the Village of Calumet. We are responsible for a large portion of the maintenance that is performed in the Village including Village streets, snow removal, parks, trash and general maintenance to our public owned buildings.

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETYThe Department of Public Safety currently comprises of the volunteer-based Village of Calumet Fire Department, located at Village Hall.
The Village of Calumet Police Department disbanded in 2018, however, both the Michigan State Police and Houghton County Sheriff's Office offer emergency services in the area. In case of emergency DIAL 9-1-1! |
VILLAGE COUNCIL, COMMISSIONS, AND AUTHORITIES
The Village of Calumet is a General Law Act Village and is governed by a Village Council. The Trustees on the Council comprise multiple committees. The Village also has a Zoning Board of Appeals, Planning Commission, Historic District Commission, and Downtown Development Authority!

THE VILLAGE OF CALUMET HOUSING COMMISSION
The CHC offers one Public Housing community with 98 units for families and senior/disabled individuals. The Calumet Housing Commission (CHC) is currently accepting Public Housing waiting list pre-application for families and senior/disabled individuals. To apply, visit the CHC to pick up a pre-application, located at 1 Park Ave., Calumet, MI 49913, from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm EDT, Monday-Friday. Once the application has been completed, it can be mailed or hand delivered to the address listed above. Be sure to include copies of Social Security Cards with the application.
