DDA Grant Opportunities

FUNDING STABILIZATION AND REDEVELOPMENT
The Village of Calumet DDA may dedicate a portion of its annual budget to historic building stabilization and rehabilitation. Some years that funding will be dispersed by means of a local grant program, in other years the funding will be dedicated to development of larger projects such  as the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) or Community Revitalization Program (CRP) grants which allow local dollars to be leveraged as part of larger projects. The local programs that have been developed are described below under "Local Grant Program Information".
To learn more about programs offered by the MEDC please visit their website, or review fact sheets on the Community Revitalization Program (CRP) grants. Community Development Block Grants applications for facade projects are not being accepted at this time.

Local Grant Program Information

The DDA is currently developing guidelines for a small grants program that would assist local business and property owners meet a range of needs. Program rollout is expected spring, 2024.

Restoration, Repair & Stabilization Grant

 If your building is in need of interior and exterior structural work, interior mechanical and electrical repair, upgrades and interior renovations that would be permanent improvements  to the structure you may be eligible for up to $2000 from the DDA!

Storefront Design Assistance

Are you planning a restoration project on a building in downtown Calumet? The DDA may be able to help you offset the cost of professional design fees for your project. We offer up to $2000 to help with the creation of plans for historically appropriate improvements.
