Work Session Meetings of the Village Council are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, 6:00pm at the Village Hall (340 6th Street, Calumet, MI 49913).
Regular Meetings of the Village Council are held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, 6:00pm at the Village Hall (340 6th Street, Calumet, MI 49913). Special Meetings are called as needed and are posted on the door of the Village Hall and on the CALENDAR.

The Village of Calumet is a General Law Act Village and is governed by the Calumet Village Council. The Village Council is comprised of seven citizens elected at-large, including a Village President and six Trustees. The Village President is the chief executive officer of the Village and presides at the meetings of the Council. The General Law Village Act The Michigan General Law Village Act (1895) provides for the government of certain villages; to define their powers and duties; to provide for the levy and collection of taxes, borrowing of money, and issuance of bonds and other evidences of indebtedness by villages subject to this act; to define the powers and duties of certain state and local officers and entities; to define the application of this act and provide for its amendment by villages subject to this act; to validate prior amendments and certain prior actions taken and bonds issued by villages subject to this act; to provide for the disincorporation of villages; and to prescribe penalties and provide remedies.
