VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – SERVE YOUR COMMUNITY!
The Village of Calumet is seeking residents interested in serving on two important local boards:

Village Council
One vacant seat is available to complete a term ending in November 2026.

Planning Commission
One vacant seat is available to complete a term ending in December 2026.

Serving on a board or commission is a great way to get involved in your community and help shape the future of Calumet. We encourage residents with a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and interests to apply. Note, you must be a Village of Calumet resident for either of these roles.

Interested individuals should submit a letter of interest to the Village Office or email it to [email protected].

CALUMET VILLAGE PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE:   
Office Hours: Monday – Thursday 8am – 4pm: 906-337-1713

  • The Historic District Commission Meeting is Tuesday, June 2nd at 5:30pm.
  • The Planning Commission Meeting is Thursday, June 4th at 5:30pm.
  • The Downtown Development Authority Meeting is Tuesday, June 9th at 9:00am.
  • The HDC, DDA and Main Street Calumet are hosting a Stakeholder Luncheon on Wednesday, June 10th at noon at the Keweenaw Heritage Center, 25257 Scott Street, Calumet.
  • The Village is hosting a Twinning Ceremony with our sister city, Camborne on Friday, June 12th at 10:00am in the 6th Street Greenspace Park.
  • The Farmers Market opens Saturday, June 13th in Agassiz Park and will be every Saturday during the season from 10:00am – 2:00pm.
  • The Village Council Regular Meeting is Tuesday, June 16th at 6:00pm. This meeting is also available via Zoom:

Spring Clean-Up: Dumpster

🧹🚛 Village of Calumet Spring Clean-Up Opportunity! 🚛🧹

The Village of Calumet will have a dumpster available at the DPW Shop beginning Wednesday, June 3 for residents who would like to help clean up their properties and remove blight-related debris.

✅ Village of Calumet residents only
📍 DPW Shop
🕗 DPW staff will be available to assist Monday–Friday from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Items generally accepted include:
• Household junk
• Non-hazardous construction debris
• Small amounts of renovation materials

🚫 Please do NOT place the following items in the dumpster:
• Paints, stains, solvents, or other liquids
• Tires
• Batteries
• Electronics (TVs, computers, etc.)
• Propane tanks
• Gasoline, oil, antifreeze, or automotive fluids
• Hazardous chemicals, pesticides, or fertilizers
• Asbestos-containing materials
• Appliances containing refrigerants (such as refrigerators or freezers)

If you are unsure whether an item can be accepted, please check with Village staff before bringing it.
